October 11

Central Christian Church is em“barking” on a new opportunity.  We will host our very first Blessing of the Animals in our CCC Pumpkin Patch. As you might now, the Blessing of the Animals tradition comes from the celebration of World Animal Day that started in Florence, Italy in 1931, at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned on locations all over the globe. An early October date was originally chosen for World Animal Day because of the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint off animals and the environment. However, World Animal Day has now gone beyond being the celebration of a Christian saint and is today observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds.

We ask everyone to bring pet food to donate to both Fuzzy Friends & Happy Endings Pet Rescues.  Ministers and Elders will be on hand to bless dogs, cats, turtles, birds or other animals the community brings to be blessed.  More information about this event is on the church’s website, www.cccwaco.org

We’ll also have special “stations” set up for children to “bless” their stuffed animals.  It will be a great afternoon out for the whole family!
